THE GEORGE ALEXANDER FOUNDATION

George Alexander established The George Alexander Foundation in 1972 as a way of sharing his wealth. The Foundation has a special interest in supporting the education of talented young people, particularly those from rural and regional areas, and in funding environment and conservation initiatives, especially programs which offer practical experience. Sometimes these two interests overlap.

The Education Program supports both scholarships and grants and reflects George Alexander’s wish to assist young people obtain a good education.

The Foundation also makes grants in the area of Environment & Conservation, with a focus on community partnerships, environmental education and sustainable land practices.

George Alexander invited the Governors of the Ian Potter Foundation to be Trustees of his Foundation. This has been a successful arrangement for more than thirty years and The Foundation now holds assets of more than $15 million.
